What is Reiki & How Can It Support You?
Reiki is a beautiful, gentle form of energy healing that originated in Japan. The word Reiki is often understood as universal life-force energy, the energy believed to flow through and around all living things.
During a Reiki treatment, I act as a channel for this energy, allowing it to flow through my hands while you simply lie back, relax and receive. My hands may be gently placed on or held just above different areas of your body.
There is nothing you need to do. This is your time to slow down, switch off and reconnect with yourself.
The Benefits of Reiki.
People are drawn to Reiki for many different reasons. It can be a beautiful addition to your self-care and wellbeing routine, particularly when life feels busy, heavy or overwhelming.
Reiki may help to promote:
✨ Deep relaxation and a sense of calm
✨ Reduced feelings of stress and tension
✨ Emotional wellbeing
✨ A greater sense of balance and grounding
✨ Rest and relaxation
✨ A quieter, calmer mind
✨ Connection with yourself and your intuition
✨ A sense of peace, clarity and overall wellbeing
Some people also choose Reiki when they feel energetically drained, stuck or simply not quite themselves and want some time to reset and recharge.
What Might I Experience During Reiki?
Every Reiki treatment is completely individual, there is no right or wrong way to experience it.
During your session you may feel warmth or coolness, tingling, gentle pulsing, heaviness or lightness in different areas of your body.
You may see colours, lights, shapes or images behind closed eyes. You may notice memories, thoughts or emotions coming to the surface, or simply experience a beautiful feeling of deep peace.
Some people feel very little physically and simply become incredibly relaxed and often people drift off to sleep.
All experiences are perfectly okay. You don’t have to feel or see anything for Reiki to be beneficial as a relaxation and wellbeing practice.
After Your Treatment.
Afterwards, you may feel lighter, calmer, relaxed, refreshed or more grounded. You may also feel sleepy or emotional as you take some quiet time to process your experience.
I always recommend drinking plenty of water, taking things gently where possible and simply listening to what your body needs.
For me, Reiki is about giving yourself permission to stop giving for a moment and allow yourself to receive.
To pause.
To breathe.
To reconnect.
And to take a little time to come back home to you.
